IL - Scott Lee Cohen, the winner of the last week's Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, announced Feb. 7 that he is dropping out of the election. The Democratic State Central Committee, headed by House Speaker Mike Madigan, will now select who will be Gov. Pat Quinn's running mate this fall.
WY - Lawmakers convene a 20-day budget session on Feb. 8 with state agencies and local governments bracing for budget cuts.
AR - The legislature convenes Feb. 8, for its first annual session, which is supposed to be limited to budget matters.
